The first yearly report of the Saudi Electricity Company's chair for Demand Side Management and Energy Efficiency

This is a summary of the first annual report to the chair of the Saudi Electricity Company for Demand Side Management, whereas the scientific chair is supervised by a scientific research team from team from King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The scientific chair aims for the following:  

 

  • Find optimal solutions to deal with the electricity consumption during peak periods through the program of Demand Side Management for industrial and commercial sectors.

  • Increasing the efficiency of lighting and air conditioning systems, which lead to substantial and sustained reductions in energy consumption and during the hours of peak demand for energy.

  • Changing the consumption curve of load for participants of industrial and commercial sectors through the process of energy auditing which improves the coefficient of load to Saudi Electricity Company.
     

The report includes an analysis of the data available to the curve of load that have been obtained by more than 120 participants from senior participants of the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) in the western region of Saudi Arabia, in addition to the proposal of a new program for Demand Side Management. This program is called (Reduction Bidding Program, SRBP,)) (Summer Reduction Bidding Program, SRBP. The data were analyzed and categorized to illustrate the importance of the proposed program in accordance with the pattern of consumption of electrical loads with those participants. This program (SRBP) is a program that the participant responds to according to his interest depending on the obtained incentives in exchange for reducing load at peak times. Incentives are prayed to the participating subscribers in the program by the Saudi Electricity Company, depending on the level of reduction in consumption in each month. We will explain how to pay the amounts required and the benefits of that in this report.
